Actually, I'm on flex schedule for the summer and I'm home since I worked half a day today.

Nice. When're you gonna take over the firm?

Actually 13 minute 2 mile is a perfect score for the physical training test. Anything faster than that is wasted unless you score perfect for the push-ups and sit-ups. If you score 100 points in each event then you are allowed to tally whatever extra you did into your score. The highest score I have personally seen someone get was around a 380. Oh and we have this extremely buff short guy that can do 180+ push-ups in 2 minutes.
Okay that's what I was looking for.

I guess it's now at week 4:

I'm now up to
83 pushups in 2 minutes
91 situps in 2 minutes

1.5 miles in 14 minutes lulz. I'm so close to that damn mark, I'm going running like every day for this entire week to get my mile time on lock, and i'm going to kill the Ab machines to try and make up some of the ground.

Hmm, I'd say that he'll make around $60k, maybe less depending on where he is looking for a job and who with? I'm honestly not positive how much inflation occurred since I last graduated, but that is a fair assessment.

I have gotten my mile time down to 6:30 finally. Next goal is less than 6 minutes per mile for 2 miles. I have been running everyday, twice a day about 10k a day cross country and it has really made an impact on my physical condition. Now I just ordered a "MiR 50Lbs Short Adjustable Weighted Vest" to help pull me under the 6 minute mark.

How much did one of those cost you? I've been wanting to experiment with new equipment and new techniques and besides punching bags and gloves I can't think of much else to get. Along with some running weights, i've been thinking about getting a runner's parachute, and it actually would probably tie onto that vest somehow, possibly.

I went through 4 sets of ankle weights, and they all broke so I decided to get the vest. $129.99 at amazon. The best thing about the vest is that it is a shortened vest. So I have full abdominal use and can do sit-ups and crunches with the vest on. All the reviews for the vest are 4 and 5 star reviews. They also sell a full vest that is like 89 lbs I think. That is a bit to heavy for me to run with tho. Maybe for hiking/road marching.

That's awesome. Amazon's the place to go then, huh? Shipping? I'm looking though anything right now I can use to push myself to another plateau, and weighted workouts would be excellent right now.

You really need to start running every other day at least. Burn the body fat and increase your endurance. When you can run 10k a day 6 days a week then it is probally time for weights.

Didn't read that before...

You need to hit the trails man. Treadmills are for pussies. Go outside in the heat, sweat your ass off, hit ungodly hills... otherwise your weak.

Ah no, that was from a while back. Trust me, I know about the heat and sweating my ass off. The last few weeks i've been running at a local park and they have a huge baseball field with a nice cemented ring around it, along with individual trails leading off into nowhere and looping back out. I've timed myself on the track, not the treadmill. Hell, the treadmill only gets used now if it's raining outside or too dark to go running.

Normally when it rains in Florida it comes with about 2-3 hours of lightning strikes as well. Sorry, i'd rather do other cardio being on the tread mill, or just jumping rope inside. I'd like to try doing some weighted jump ropes with that weighted vest on.

Maybe you're taking a more... holistic approach, but is a weighted vest really the best idea for dropping mile times? It sounds good in theory but I've got a lot of experience with distance running and that's not an accepted standard.

It probably will help you with fast twitch muscles though.

I don't care about whats 'accepted'. I am in the army, and we have to run with rucksacks on our backs once a week. Atleast this vest will evenly distribute the weight on my shoulders. Also I plan on only hitting hills with it hard, going uphill is so much easier on my knees and ankles. Downhill running is gay and painful.

What I meant was weight training isn't the best method if you're looking to solely drop distance times. I'm guessing you're more in the business of overall fitness (cardiovascular as well as muscular improvement), though.

I've got a new diet laid out for when I move, it's going to be much easier to follow being a fulltime student.

6:00am coffee and protein powder mixed in water (about 100 cals)
7:30am oatmeal with flax and protein powder (about 400 cals)
9:30am mixed frozen vegetables with spaghetti sauce and protein powder mixed in water (about 400 cals)
12:00 shredded wheat with nonfat milk, flax, and protein powder (about 400 cals)
2:30pm can of kidney beans and raisins (about 300 cals)
5:00pm dried soybeans and raisins (about 300 cals)
7:30pm mixed frozen vegetables with spaghetti sauce and protein powder mixed in water (about 300 cals)
9:00pm protein powder mixed in water (100 cals)

This is going to be wonderful once I get into the heavier weight training.
