The HD-DVD add-on for 360's is for films only. There are no plans for games on the HD-DVD format. In that way, 360 users miss out on the much larger storage of next-gen formats. Don't forget that EVERY PS3 is a Blu-ray player, whereas you need to buy the add-on to turn the 360 into a HD-DVD player.
And don't forget, either, that Sony is a Japanese company and works in the traditional Japanese way - each division loathes the others, and doesn't work together. The PlayStation side of Sony is more or less separate from the division that had fun with DRM on music CDs.
PS3 doing poorly? For the past four weeks it has outsold the 360 in every territory, and the trend appears to be continuing. The Wii has outsold the two, and the PS2 outsells all consoles (hand-helds is a different market).

The Xbox 360 was officially unveiled on MTV on May 12, 2005, with detailed launch and game information divulged later that month at the Electronic Entertainment Expo. It is the first console to provide near-simultaneous launch across the three major regions, and to provide wireless controller support at launch. The console sold out completely at release (with the exception of Japan) and as of Q2 2007, sold 11.6 million units worldwide.
Total 4.28 million playstation 3s sold as of June 30, 2007.

Not sure if that's a reputable site or not but it has xbox360 games way outpacing ps3 game sales.
Just off my own personal experience ...I know a lot more people with xbox360s than ps3s. I never hear people talking about ps3 games either ...it's alwards Gears of War or Guitar Hero.
