For more light-hearted, but still fairly serious anime, Outlaw Star is definitely a sound choice. Bastard!! is another good one.

If you want something darker, try The Soultaker or Hellsing.

I think a lot of people here though do the same thing, download subbed versions of new stuff, and then buy it as it becomes available outside of Japan. Or at least that's the way I do it. =)

/me curses cause he has 1 box set, and about 8 DVDs he still needs to buy.

Yeah They have the chinese version of the Naruto manga, so I buy those And yay! I made my first Gif, of rock Lee opening the 3rd gate!

I've got some manga, english and Japanese. It helps that I can somewhat understand Jap, though. I'm still learning.

The only real box set I have is record of lodoss war... all the rest of my sets are all bought 1 or 2 DVD's at a time... so I dont watch it all in one weekend, then I wont have nothing to look forward to


And yes, for a quick fix deffintly wach Bastard!! That's one of my favorites to show friends who arent sure about anime, that and Hellsing.
