Indeed, I blame everyone involved, not just the cops.
First of all, why is the kid out of control to the point that the day care can't subdue him? Is he incredibly unstable, are they incompetent, or are they afraid the parents might sue them if they harm their precious little snowflake?
Second, why didn't the day care call the parents instead of the fucking police? Unless the kid has a fucking weapon and he's potentially going to seriosly injure people, it is not an emergency. And this wasn't even the first time the cops had dealt with the kid.
Third, what the FUCK could possibly go through someone's mind to make them think they can taser a 10 year old? Tasers are NOT non-lethal, they are less-lethal, and are supposed to be an alternative to guns to save the lives of criminals, which I think is pretty cool on paper, but that isn't how they do things. But really, unless the kid had a weapon and was going to really hurt someone, there's only one thing that could possibly make these cops think it's okay to taser a 10 year old kid:
"I can get away with it."
It isn't as if they could possibly be scared of a 10 year old kid, or be unable to subdue him without weapons. And the sad fact is, they can and will get away with it, largely because we allow them to. For some reason, people have a hard time holding authority figures accountable for their actions. And the system is so screwed up that basically the cops get a nice paid vacation for doing this. Apathy breeds this shit. You can't let your rights be bullied away from you by police officers. Don't get me wrong, I'm no anarchist and I'm not saying people should break the law or form millitias or anything, but stand up for your rights. If the corrupt cops stop feeling like they can just get away with anything, episodes like this will become less frequent. The type of thing I'm talking about is say if an officer pulls me over and asks to search my car, regardless of whether or not I have anything illegal, I'm going to say "no" and unless he has probable cause or a warrant, that's that.
Unless he tasers me and bashes my skull in.
