Reply

Post a random daily fun fact! Please cite the website/magazine/etc. where you got it from so that people aren't just posting bullshit.

But anyway I'll start:

Hershey's Kisses are called that because the machine that makes them looks like it's kissing the conveyor belt.

Flea's can jump 130 times higher than their own height. In human terms this is equal to a 6ft. person jumping 780 ft. into the air.

And another becuase its interesting:

The blue whale can produce sounds up to 188 decibels. This is the loudest sound produced by a living animal and has been detected as far away as 530 miles.

That's amazing, I'm not sure about that distance, my car's stereo has been rated right around 148db's and can probbaly only be heard a mile or so away at low frequency ; I do understand that dbs multiply every number they go up, so I guess it is fathomable. I think a jet engine is around 160db.

Well, the medium of sound from a jet plane and from a whale is different. Unless you know of any underwater jets.

That's underwater, and I'm almost willing to bet that their underwater 'sound' radars can detect shit much easier than the human ear. It didn't say "could be heard", just says "detected".

Which makes sense. To me atleast.

Michigan is the only place in the world with a floating post office. The J.W. Westcott II is the only boat in the world that delivers mail to ships while they are still underway. They have been operating for 125 years.

Vernors ginger ale was created in Detroit and became the first soda pop made in the United States. In 1862, pharmacist James Vernor was trying to create a new beverage when he was called away to serve our country in the Civil War. When he returned, 4 years later, the drink he had stored in an oak case had acquired a delicious gingery flavor.

2 weeks?

24hrs a day x 7 a week x2 = 336 hours in a lifetime. Damn that's a long time, but I still feel for me it may be longer, fucking redlights.
