Firmware 1.90 is now out!

The update brings in the following:

• Ability to rearrange games on the XMB
• Option menu now includes "eject disk"
• Press triangle to eject games/CDs/movies in the XMB
• XMB backgrounds
• Change the folder classification
• Emoticons
• Change CD output to 44.1/88.2/176.4kHz
• Force 24Hz output for Blu-ray over HDMI
• Change PS3 video settings in-game
• "Bit Mapping" in the "Music Setting"
• Save AVCHD type animations from a Memory Stick
• Change settings like upscaling while playing PS and PS2 games
• Add bookmarks
• Web browser security function in the browser's tool section
• Avatar moves during audio visual chat

Hopefully, with the 2.00 (predicted to be released some time in October, with the launch of Home) update, we'll finally see in game XMB!

Awesome awesome, looks like some good changes. I'm starting to plan for purchasing my PS3, there's just so many things I have to pay for and save up for right now that I can't just yet get my hands on one... but soon enough, soon enough, I'll have one

In-game XMB is coming in the next firmware update! Which has to be v2.00:

- Update increments of 0.01 show that it's a minor update (the colour of the cursor when entering text is different)
- Update increments of 0.10 show that it's a majorish update (addition of upscaling, or custom wallpapers)
- A new number altogether (1, 2, 3, etc) is a MAJOR update

Which leads me to suspect that MAJOR things will come with update 2.00 - in-game XMB, obviously. Possibly also custom soundtracks in games, maybe a PS Store redesign. And, of course, Home.

Woooop!

I'm in the process of designing a wallpaper for my PS3.

I've also got a 360-owning friend to take a snap of the 360 dashboard so I can make myself a dashboard wallpaper, just for irony's sake.
