I don't think I'm going to swith to it for a couple of years before they get all the bugs fixed and what not, but what are your guy's thoughts? Anyone have it yet?

My uncle has it on his new laptop, it's pretty neat. I've read about it before they released it, and most recently right before the release, and now it's very common on the new machines, actually it's almost impossible to get a machine with XP unless you have it "customized" .. lol. But the downside other than the bugs is the fact that Vista takes alot of power to run ram/wise and only has mac-like upgrades when you step back and look at it.
I am contemplating purchasing a laptop here pretty shortly from either gateway or dell (easy purchasing plans) ... and I plan on getting vista i'll be able to tell you more when I have an actual user experience with it. Though, the overfall feeling that i've heard from everyone is that it's "OK" .. nothing out of the ordinary or that jumps out at you.

Well... I have it, and have not had any issues with it whatsoever. I would say some of the downsides are the fact they have reworked some of the structures. Add Remove Programs is now just Programs and Features. User information is now is /Computer/C:/Users/Username which is different the C:/Documents and Settings/.....
Now, the parental controls they have done a wonderful job on. The interface is pleasing. The sidebar with gadgets is pretty cool.
If I were you, I wouldn't go out and buy it, I'd wait until the next time I upgraded. OH... and I am a Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist in Windows Vista, so I should know.
My dad handed down to me a copy of Vista Ultimate he got for free (tech conference) and I have no real intention of installing it until my next computer upgrade.
I'm thinking of getting in the future - probably when they release SP1 for it.
I know that if I wanted to, I could go out and buy a cheap OEM copy somewhere and install it on my computer with no problem (I'd need to upgrade my RAM, though).
But, yeah, I'll be getting it in the future. I even bought a DX10 graphics card recently, just so that I wouldn't have to mess about getting one later.

Ebay it.

It uses way to much memory for an operating system. There are simply too many features that are just not needed imo. I would not reccomend upgrading until you absolutely have too.
okay, here's my stance on Vista. i had vista for a total of 6 days before i removed it and put XP back. here's a few reasons:
1. my computer is not fast enough. i would not suggest upgrading to this system unless you have recently spent an upwards of $800 on building a pc or else you will not see very good performance.
2. it offers nothing at the moment that XP doesn't. until everyone starts using directx 10 for games, there is literally no reason to upgrade to Vista. the driver support for some is shaky, while I personally have not encountered any problems.
3. my activation crack fucked up and i couldn't get it to work. this is mostly due to me being a complete retard when it comes to simple things. i believe that speaks for itself.
all in all, i don't hate Vista. i certainly do not want it right now though. being that the most likely course of action will be that DX10 will be cracked and ported to XP, i don't see going to Vista for a very long time. my perspective could possibly change though considering i just got my first job and will have a steady income of money to build a nice computer with.
i can't believe i just gave an unbiased opinion of Vista. what the fuck has happened to me over the years..?
