Randomly ordered episodes?!?!
Reply
Posted 2006-08-12, 05:08 PM
So I watched The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya today, and noticed that if you pay attention to Haruhi herself, she states that the correct order for the episodes is:
2,3,5,10,13,14,4,7,6,8,1,12,11,9
If you watch them in that order, you'll find that that is indeed the real order for the episodes...
So why would they randomize them like that in the first place?

How did it end by the way?

It's only a matter of time before a region 1 license is announced. Wanna know if it's worth putting on the list of shit to buy.

In Episode 14, Haruhi's closed space traps her and Kyon and we find Haruhi deciding to abandon the current world and bring the next. Kyon kisses her and they both wake up. In Episode 9 (the last episode), Haruhi distracts Kyon so she can take video and pictures of Mikuru to sell with their festival film. It starts to rain, and Haruhi and Kyon walk home together. IMO, this show is not about story so much as comedy and energy. Given that most of the season actually happened after the whole end of the world thing, I hope that there will be more.

Oh, and it's been licenced. I forget by who, but they(the licencee) showed it at Otakon.

It was pre-licensed before it aired, IIRC. I think Geneon had it.

Well, I've come to find that the happenings in the novels are randomly ordered, too, though they don't stop in the middle of something and come back like the anime does, so far.

No, not a reset, just cancelling a step out. The novels are better than the anime, BTW, though not by a lot.
The Sighs of Suzumiya Haruhi (the second novel) is basically about the shooting of the (raw) movie that appears in the first episode. So much crazy stuff happens that is only hinted at in the anime...

I'm reading a translation. Working on the Japanese, though.
