Well, I have had two consistant favorite series when it comes to fighting games; the two being Tekken and Mortal Kombat. I've played every game in both series (with the exception of Deception) and I beat all of them. It's not just fighting. There's complex, interesting storylines you can uncover with each game. Here's my list of the top 3:
#3 Tekken 3-Tekken 3 was my first experience with the Tekken series. I played it at my brother's place, and I got hooked. I loved Jin, Ogre, Paul and the movies that were shown at the end of the stages. It was far different from the MK games I had played for a long time. Still, I adjusted and grew to like it alot.
#2 Mortal Kombat 3-Also first played at my brother's house. It was great. The young Sub-Zero, Kano, Sonya and the rest were all kickass. It was a challenge to get to Motaro and Khan, but I did it. I beat the game at least once on every difficulty. Though, I would often lose to hopefully see some fatalities.
#1 Tekken 2-After playing Tekken 3, I wanted to know more. I needed to find the previous games in the series. I found Tekken 2 at some store. Through this game, I learned about Jin. (i had never read the booklet that game with Tekken 3) It was even easier because I knew 99% of Jin's moves, and he used a few of his mother's, a fighter in the game named Jun Kazama, so that was cool. The videos were even more interesting. I was unable to pull myself away. I kept unlocking character after character, until finally! I unlocked Kazuya Mishima. He's my favorite character of all the series. He was even harder to beat than Devil, and he used many of Jin's moves. All the characters were great and I loved seeing their end movies, but Kazuay blew them all away.
Those are my favorite fighting games. Screw you Street Fighter and SC. Tekken owns all your asses.
