Ok, the concert was fucking unbelievable.
First off, gotta give props to Soulfly, as they played for 1.5 hours STRAIGHT, with not a single break lasting longer than it took for the roadies to bring out the Tribal Drums/Berimbaus for a song or two.
Crisis opened, and they were fairly ok. The singer is a chick about 5'1", about 95 pounds, had dreds down to her feet, and could scream with the best of them (she could scream LOW). She could be cute, but the dreds would have to go... Anyway, the band was fairly alright. They'd likely seem better if everyone wasn't waiting for the other bands.
Ill Nino was bad as fuck, no other thinking about it. They're a high-energy band live, and the pit was pretty active throughout the whole time. Once again, they just fucking beat
ass.
Soulfly was obviously who everyone came to see. As soon as they opened with 'Prophecy', I went from the middle of the pit into ~3 feet from the stage, and didn't even mean to move. After being in the pit for Ill Nino (30-40 mins) and 1 hour of Soulfly, I had to back out and get some water. After we left, the pit was completely dead. There were about 3 people moving still towards the end of Soulfly's time on stage. Max had his son up there to sing 'Bleed' with him, and he actually sounded pretty good. Maybe we'll see his name in the future...
All in all, I would've easily paid twice the ticket price for that, and hopefully I'll catch them again. The bands are highly recommended.
