The gaming industry changes faster than ever, and we've started to fall behind on the news updates due to a lack of news posters. This is your chance to help Zelaron catch up with the latest release dates, reviews, important announcements and generally anything interesting on a gamer-basis.

The following is a list of the things expected of news posters:
- News type - All news should be things that effect gamers because they're gamers, not because they are people. Game announcements, release dates, new game information, console and PC gaming hardware news is all good. "News of the weird", political news, science news is bad; these sorts of topics belong in General Conversation.
- Quantity - Really, we'd like to have new news every day, but we understand that news doesn't happen every day; sometimes nothing seems to happen for a week. If you go without posting news for more than two weeks, especially if you don't leave an away notice, you'll lose your position. If you on average post less than 1 item in a week, we will turn a critical eye toward you. Remember that we aren't just after the big news; the release of "Mace Griffen: Bounty Hunter" may not mean much to you, but it may be important to other members. On the other hand, don't post anything completely childish like "Learning to count with Elmo and Big Bird" just to make yourself look active. The minimum age to join the forum is 13, remember.
- Credit - There always seem to be problems with this, so I'll lay it out:
*If you got the news from a primary source (press release/news feed from devs/pubs), then no credit is due, simply say who announced it, and you're cool, even if you post most of it verbatim.
*If you copy another gaming or news site verbatim, first of all, only post a snipet if it's longer than a paragraph, and second link to the article or news page on the site.
*If you paraphrase what another gaming or news site said, you must still at least mention where you got the news.
*If you spend the time to gather information from various sources and make a write up, each source should be sited either with their quotes or at the end in a sources section

So go ahead and hit the PM button to send me an application, or just reply to this thread. The same goes for any questions you might have about this.
Generally, to post news that'll end up on the Zelaron.com Portal, all you need to do is to post a new thread in the announcements forum once you have been granted the news poster title.
