d2 sound help

For some odd reason d2 doesnt work with my sound card. so everytime i want to play d2 i have to uninstall my sound card or d2 will freeze up on me. just wondering if ne body knows how i can play d2 w/o the sound, like the bots do. when i run a bot it works fine even with the sound card installed. thanks, would help out alot
