Counter-strike Updating

I just got counter strike on my Windows XP system, and when I press update, it says that my internet connection is invalid...

Do I need to open up shit or something b/4 I do this? Christ >_<

Possibly firewall issue? I used to use the ingame game selector and I had to turn my firewall off or else it would give me that.
Use a program like The All Seeing Eye to connect to online games, mucho game support.

Dont use that updater. Download the uppdates directly from a site.

Ohh he meant a game updater? I thought he meant a game list update.
