The bathroom scene didn't scare me that much. I think I had my mind elsewhere at that moment. Some imp jumped at me as soon as I opened a door, which was worse. And not to mention when I walked up to a dead guard on a table, and he woke up. The latter sounds obvious, and my mind was thinking "Hey, this guy is probably must obviously be a zomb..." JUST as he woke up and jumped at me, kind of like that imp. That scared the HELL out of me for some reason.

Doom 3 is scary.

Want to tweak around a bit to get it to look better? Go here.

http://ucguides.savagehelp.com/Doom3/FPSVisuals.htm EDIT: I never made an autoexec.cfg folder, but I've been told that it makes the game run somewhat smoother. Unzipping the files from the pak file and deleting the pak files supposedly do too, virtually making the load times longer. However, it has been reported it does indeed make the game run somewhat smoother. Multiplayer does not work if you delete them, though. I assume you can always just create backups of these files if you want to try.

It is a essential for you to tweak around with image_useCache,
image_cacheMegs, and image_cacheMinK. The game runs so much smoother when you do.

Currently, I only have a 128 mb video card which runs the game perfectly on high settings at 1024 x 768, but I plan on getting a 256 mb video card as soon as possible. Your processor should be up-to-date as well.

Having trouble seeing? Download the flashlight pistol mod: http://dlx.gamespot.com/pc/doom3/moreinfo_6104168.html

Subjectively, I have not yet tried this out. What I recommend trying if you do know wish to use this is to try setting the flashlight bind key to F or some other close key so you can easily switch between your flashlight and your previously used weapon. Works like a charm.

You need surround sound to enjoy the game fully. I have 5.1 headphones.

I don't have a problem with framerates...my Geforce 6800 runs it pretty fast at 1024x768 with 8x AA and 8x AF .

As for the choppiness, that's a hard drive related issue. To fix it, go into the Doom 3\base folder, and open each .pk4 file with WinRAR, and extract them into the base folder. Then delete all the pk4 files. You'd easily gain 10 fps on the game because now the cpu doesn't have to decompress the game files every time a monster pops up. Be warned though, decompressing them makes the game take up about 4 gb of space.
