I'd rather have it be more like listening to the radio, but with user-specific songs. We all want to listen to something we can enjoy, not just one artist that a specific member nuts over.
Not really sure what you mean by user specific songs and how 70GB including probably 30 different genres/subgenres is "one artist" or how what yo usaid has anything to do with what MJ said but please make some suggestions. 70gb is a lot but I am always looking to expand!
Time to be a music elitist and say 70 GB isn't much music. I keep my selection extremely trimmed and I have about 35 GB of music. If I didn't regularly get rid of stuff I didn't like I would probably be in at around 500 GB. I have friends with tens of thousands of CDs and vinyl albums.
Wow you guys are crazy, I have like 5-6Gigs and I figured that was somewhat of a lot.

Grav, that sounds awesome. PM me I would be very interested in what kind of music you have. I never feel like I have enough and I am always deleting stuff. It seems like you are much further down this path and I'd be honored to bask in the brilliance of your collection.

I'm still a complete noob compared to most of the music lovers I know. I've been buying/selling gear over the past three months to get the right headphone setup, and I've hit a point that sounds very good. As of now my playlist is almost entirely hip hop and classic rock, but I plan to delve into a lot of different genres now... it's been a slowly accelerating process, but expedited by the right gear. In a year or two my collection (and tastes) should be much more diverse.
I started with purely classic rock and some other stuff (I was into Primus for a while) and gravitated into Jam which is full of boring crap (and some gems!) then I found Ween (who transcend genre and master all of them) and then started stocking up on Funk, then went to electronic and that is a huge genre with a lot of experimental music coming out all the time. I guess I have some indie shit like Spoon and more unusal music like Tom Waits or Nick Cave. Really I couldn't list all the different genres I have but I have a lot more than hiphop/rock. My hiphop collection is still pretty small because I am kind of picky.
Shifting styles often helped me trim my collection to remove a lot of stuff I didn't like anymore.
Having a good audio setup makes it harder and harder for me to listen to 99% of electronica. Being able to decipher things such as when an audio sample is abruptly cut off during playback in a track really makes music sound shitty to me.

Wow. You were able to cut down from 500 to 35? If only you could do that with your weight. Even if you were able to cut your weight in half, I'd be proud. Just 250, Grav. Just to 250.
