Recording desktop for video?

I am wondering if anyone knows of a way that i can record video of what i do on my desktop. This is for a school project on how to use power point. So i was curious if there is a program that basically takes screen shots at a very high rate so i dont have to have a whole lot of pictures in my power point.

Could you not have a camcorder recording over your shoulder???

Fraps

I got fraps but I don't think it works for desktops, only games. Or maybe I dunno how to use it lol.

I tried Kaos's but it was really poor quality so i think i am just going to stick with screen shots.
