Something along the lines of "oh god why can't we be together forever", "oh no, she dumped me. Time to kill myself!", "she doesn't notice me, woe is me!", "i love you so much that i want to cry!" are the only real things I've heard in emo songs.
If it's hidden, THAT'S STILL THE MESSAGE IT SENDS ACROSS, just more subtle. They could at least own up to being the whiney sacks of uterine lining that they are.
Emo songs are not about girls... But you look at every music, isn't everything about love...a problem, where do you find life is beautiful anymore in songs, long time ago. Even metal hardcore bands talk about love. Yes voice your own opinion but to bash something your OWN music does, is simply retarded. Wow amazing your bands guitarist can do a few power chords. Hes so good. while mine can play pretty much, blues, punk, jazz, and anything else including power chords.

I don't bash Emo... at least I try not to... there are plenty of good "emo" bands... My Chemical Romance is sweet for example. I like all kinds of music. And shit loads of emo uses power chords. Just because a guitarist uses power chords doesn't mean they don't have the ability to play a theoretically good solo... but its about the high energy... that's why so many punk bands use power chords. There are "Hardcore" metal bands that could tear the fuck out of any emo band when it comes to the skill of the guitarist. Furthermore to judge a band by the skill of its guitarist is just retarded for an insurrmountable ammount of reasons.
