Stay up the night before, and sleep on the plane.

i have lot of experience with 10-20 hour rides, here are some things:

- gameboy (i get bored at it after 5 minutes, but obviously i am not you =.=)
- DISKMAN/MP3-PLAYER (hours and hours and hours.... i can send you some good metal & belgian techno )
- paper (i draw alot... ofcourse on highway only)
- pocket games (you know, those classic games in smaller version for that kind of occasions)
- magic cards (if you have them.... ofcourse, other cards like pokémon are good as well, personal choice)
- enough drinks.... but no alcohol !!
- a friend/family member you like (lalz =.=)
- laptop (if you have one ofc.)
- broken things (i fixed my clock while driving to france, it kept me busy for 4 hours...)
- books (only on highway, and not in the dark, can give you headache)
- work for school (just kidding -.-)
- ...

i always enjoyed those rides with bus/car/train, i even look forward to them -.-

GameBoy Advance SP

Buy one. In addition, buy a copy of any of the following games.

Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow
Fire Emblem
Golden Sun
Golden Sun: The Lost Age
Harvest Moon: Friends Of Mineral Town
Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga
Mario Golf: Advance Tour
Metroid: Zero Mission
Metroid Fusion
The Legend of Zelda: A Link To The Past

There's also a very good Grand Theft Auto game that was just recently released on GBA. If you're into GTA, that one will suit your fancy just fine.

Either that or grab some books. I recommend starting up the Dark Tower series by Stephen King. That would keep you busy for weeks.

Last year I went to Italy by bus, a 26 hour drive with no sleeping whatsoever :S. I had with me an mp3 player and paper to draw on. Worst ride in my life.

Heh, Guide to the Galaxy books are freakin' hilarious. I heard the author was high when he wrote the series; is that true?

Otherwise I would consider sleeping, music player, if you have on take a laptop with charge batteries to play with it a bit, and lastly sleep.

Quite a good list you guys have got. I leave Vancouver airport at 12:00pm and get into Hong Kong at 2 am my time, 7 pm their time. So i'm planning on staying awake the whole time so i can just go to sleep when i get there. I was thinking of taking a laptop with a bunch of movies on it or some games. I'm also going to try to sneak a few pictures of people that have fallen asleep on the plane for fun to document the long ride. I didn't know the DS was out yet... If its out i need to grab one and some games before sunday because thats when im leaving... I have an ipod mini so i plan to listen to a shit load of music too. Im not one to draw much, so i don't think i'll be doing much of that. However im sure there are in flight movies to watch and i can probobly make some friends on the plane... Flight is 15 hours non-stop so its gonna be awhole lot of sitting down. Maybe i'll get some of those books you guys recommended.

Thanks for the help.

The Ultimate Hitchhiker's Guide is a great investment. It's ~$15 for ~800 pages of absolute hilarity.

Raziel said it was for Gameboy Advance SP. DS does not come out for another couple of weeks if I am not mistaken. You may be able to pick one up in Hong Kong though .
