From what I hear, Linux is just a different version of Windows? Except its free and has more style?

You couldn't be farther from the truth..

This is what my friends tell me. I do not know the validity of these comments, so don't take my word for it.

Linux is open source. WHich means, anybody who downloads it can modify it to their will. It's completely legal. My friend is obsessed with linux. He says it's much more stable.

well i would recommend trying a live cd if you really want to try out linux all you have to do is set your bios to boot from cd and then pop in the cd and reboot it will automaticly boot up the cd instead of your windows partition. and this wont even touch your harddrive. not will be saved on your system so it wont hurt your current windows settings. i recommend the slackware live distro called slax here is a link you can download the iso and burn it to a cd using nero jst make sure to burn it using the burn iso cd option

Not really, in fact they are quite different. Read above, there are differences listed up there. Also, like I said above, there are live-cd's which allow you to get a feel for Linux before you put it on your computer. And why was this removed from the reviews section anyway? I pretty much consider this a minimal review of the two OSs.
