Post Quarter-Finals! Sigma vs. Kuja

Posted 2003-12-09, 06:55 AM
Arena: Stygian Depths

In the Red Corner, the psychotic Maverick mastermind, the steel-skulled enemy of humankind, from Mega Man X: Sigma!!!

And in the Blue Corner, the murderous poet, the divine destroyer of worlds, from Final Fantasy 9: Kuja!!!

The wily reploid scans the writhing walls of his hellish new environment. The searing heat distorts the very air around him as he unsheaths his beam blade and works his way through the maze-like catacombs. Kuja, lowering himself down to one of the stone platforms rising out of the boiling magma, inspects the tunnel openings in the walls of the cavern at a distance. Sigma emerges from one of the openings and the two combatants idenify each other instantly. Just as the two are about to make their first moves, a great rumbling unleashes itself in the bowels of the volcanic abyss. The walls begin to shake violently as debris rains from above, and jets of flame and lava erupt from below. Before long, the magma-line will have reached the apex of the cavern, while the ceiling caves in entirely. If either is to escape with their lives, they must act quickly to defeat the other, or else resign themselves to their demise by slow immolation or instant pulverization.

I win!
Sigma is no match for the destructive of me and my dragon.

Here is a little reminder of the attack me and my dragon have for those who do not know/remember.

Nova Dragon: Claw, Twister (all), Shockwave (all), Tidal Wave (all), Aerial Slash (all), Psychokinesis
Counter Claw attack! (Very Strong) and Tidal Wave

Kuja: Curaga, Reflect, Demi, Thundaga, Holy, Flare Star, Ultima.
CounterAttack : Holy, Flare, Flare Star.

What do you mean? If you mean him being very huge and shit. Well, considering the arena he wouldnt have any mobility.

well how long can the dragon stay in the air?
anyhow.. sigma could use "the end" from mmx4.. instant kill
and sigma could try to draw them into the lava with that move that pulls you into the corner

btw x!=megaman

The dragon can stay as long as he want in the air.
The end wouldnt be allowed and i dont remember the attack since i havnt played it in a very long time. But it is most likely something that would work only on a mechanical unit.

As for megaman and X not being the same i would like to see something more official then post in a forum.

Edit:
Also, pulling in lava wouldnt work as it is in a multi-level cave. They might not even be close to laval during the fight and spells from the dragon and kuja would be enought to disrupt his attack and dealing damage at the same time.

Mostly because this is the story of Blue Bomber, Rockman, Megaman or X. They are 1 and the same.

When Rock was modified into Megaman, Dr. Light incorporated revolutionary new designs into Rock's neuro-processor. Later on, he makes these designs even more novel and sophisticated. These designs were so new, that Rock had to continuously be tested to make sure he would never violate the first Law of Robotics: "A robot must never harm a human being." The good doctor grew old, and had no one to continue his work. So, he sealed Megaman, now designated as subject "X", in a capsule that would test his systems for thirty years. At the end of this time, Apr. 13, 21XX, the capsule is unearthed by famed archeologist and scientific jack-of-all-trades Dr. Cain. He resurrects "X", and realizes that the sophisticated neuro-circuitry is the work of the legendary Dr. Thomas Light. He tries to impliment the designs into new, other free-thinking robots called Reploids. By January the following year, Reploids are common and they can be seen commonly working alongside humans. Come February, however, some Reploids arrive at the conclusion that humans should be eliminated and go Maverick, injuring and even killing people. The first Law of Robotics has been shattered. A group of Reploids were then deputized as Maverick Hunters, designed to save humanity. Meanwhile, "X" becomes unsure of his role in this strange future. His weapons are now antiquated, his lightweight titamium-x armor is just as old fasioned, and he considers giving up fighting for good. Feb. 16 sees the organization of the Hunters under a leader named Sigma, seemingly the most powerful and intelligent Reploid to date. But, just as the world breathes easier, Sigma goes Maverick on June 4, and the war intensifies. "X" joins the Maverick Hunters just as Zero takes command. And so, the saga of Megaman draws to a close; the saga of Mega Man X has just begun...

hm.. well i cant argue too well on x and megaman but it seems that from the interview that keiji (creator of megaman) was pretty clear that there is a distinct difference and they will be avoiding the x and megaman relationship

btw where is the source of that? are you sure its not just a fanfic?

here is the manual and script for mmx1.. no indication of the paragraph you mentioned and additionally the manual seems to use X in all places and avoids most things in connection to the old mm series
correlating with the interview sentiment of avoiding linking them together directly:
http://megaman.retrofaction.com/mmx/...mmx1manual.php
http://megaman.retrofaction.com/mmx/...mmx1script.php

in mmx1.. final sigma has a mode where you see him holding a large gun popping out of the upper right.. when he says "the end" he shoots a laser ray that hits against the floor and causes kind of an explosion on the ground.. if x is on the floor he dies instantly

Well, thats no fanfic. The story of megaman story is that Dr. Light and Dr. Wily were partners and they were genius. They were makingmaking robots to make life much simpler for humans. But Dr. Wily had other plans. Like taking over the world . So one Dr. Wily decided to reprogram the 8 original robots.(Thats in mm1 by the way) It included the boss from that game Megaman and protoman. But megaman was able to resist the reprogramming and is alone to fight against the other 6. Later in the game you find out that megaman was originaly a boy/cyborg named *Rock* that had a sister called Roll.

When Dr. Willy became a threat, you see Rock volunteer to have his body transformed creating *Megaman*. (Also kown as *blue bomber*) Dr. light also called Dr. Right and Dr. Wrigth create some assistants for megaman like rush the dog (Any megaman player should know rush )

When megaman serie end. Dr. Wily get killed by Zero.
Megaman X is created and placed in capsule.

Take note that Megaman just get upgraded to Megaman X just like Rock was turned into Megaman and his name is still Megaman X. When he is called X it's just like a nickname. You can check the picture you can see that it isnt X it is clearly Megaman X.

This is a Screenshot i took from Megaman X5.

The only thing that would put doubt is really that he doesnt say: "I created Megaman X from Megaman."
But then again when Rock volunteer at the start of Megaman serie you do not see Dr. light say: "I created megaman from Rock." So assuming that he isnt the same even tho he keep his name as Megaman because the process isnt fully explained is a little dumb. Not to mention his name. His name as megaman is based that he was a man and became a Mega Man. In the X serie he is still own the name of Megaman which is pointing toward his humanity. Even tho there aint much left of it

If you wanna discuss this further make a thread about it in General Gaming. We shouldnt be talking about this here since it is very off-topic.

The End should be treated like a Huge Laser Beam that covers most the half the screen.

Kuja would just thrash him with Thundaga, Flare Star, and Ultima and Sigma's toast. Sigma's a frigging robot, right, so he's REALLY susceptible to lightning. And yes, Kuja flies around. As Trance Kuja he flies until you defeat him before Necron, and that's pretty long (or was it it with Garland?!). And he has his awesome Silver Dragon. He's NEVER without his trusty steed!
Life is short.

The thing is, this isn't a battle with Megaman. So... there's no reason to see anything whatsoever concerning him. We have yet to have any argument concerning the things a character has fought against (except Cloud I believe). This wouldn't even be a good example if you're going for it, because Sigma never beat Megaman.

It wasnt even related to Zelaron Melee and i alredy told him that this should be done in another thread if we wanted to continue. There is no reason to try to be a smartass about it.

ya sorry i didnt think it would hijack the thread like it did. i was looking through something and came across kujas prior post about megaman and x as well as coming across that keiji interview and thought i would throw it in as kind of a side note. i felt it would serve as a good quick note since the discussion in most of its entirety was in melee.. (of what i saw i mean)

"the end" doesnt always happen.. and its from mmx4 when you fight sigma in his final form
sorry i made a typo with mmx1.. jumping from talking about mmx4 and mmx1 got me all mixed up

Well, for my advantage.
Sigma being a mechanical unit make him vulnerable to my thundaga and being a Virus would most likely make him vulnerable to Holy as well.

For my Nova Dragon advantage.
Sigma is mechanical so Tidal Wave should prove very useful and Psychokinesis can be useful in almost any situation.

Sigma disadvantage.
He mostly rely on quick attack from a little everywhere which is hardly possible to do considering it is a multi level cavern.
He always fighted Megaman X/Zero that dealt physical damage and no magical damage. Which is going to clearly disadvantage him since he got no experience against magic.

Sigma won't be in his virus form...

The End is a move he has in X4, when he's in some sort of giant robot form. (At the upper right corner, invulnerable except for... I forgot where...

I'm trying to finish Rockman X7 right now.

Well, as a giant robot would give him a big disadvantage in Stygian Depths. I dunno how exactly Sigma work but as far as i know a virus stays a virus no matter where it is. The only diff. would be if he can or not affect from the location(body) he is in.
