Bash shell scripting?

well i was looking at the gameprogramming.com and it says bash shell scripting... as in linux's bash shell? i dont know much about shell scripting but.. why would you need it in game programming?

To have your games support linux perhaps? Frankly more and more games are supporting linux nowadays. OpenGL is a better solution anyway.
