Post Battle! Auron vs. Master Jinx

Posted 2003-09-13, 02:58 AM
Arena: Bamboo Grove - Think Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon. Acres and acres of swaying bamboo, steep uphill grade, loose soil, a moderately sized river running through the grove's center. Waterfalls, ponds the whole works.

In the Red Corner, looking just too damned badass to break a sweat. Armed with a particlulary impressive blade, magic spells aplenty and the always handy "jug of booze." The shady, shades-wearing mentor of the infinitely-lame Tidus, from Final Fantasy 10: Auron!!!

In the Blue Corner, standing at about 6 inches. Equipped with lightning-fast chop socky attacks, his devastating "Silver Bullet" and "Bombs Away" techniques, and one mean, green haircut! The Master of the Monstro Town Dojo, the doll-sized whirlwind of ass-whooping! From Super Mario RPG: Master Jinx!!!

In this battle of red-cloaked masters of combat, it will be piercing steel vs. invisible fists! It will be a bout of decimating magic and furious martial arts! Who will be left standing? Support your combatant, and come out swinging!

Auron would take this battle with ease. With age, comes wisdom, and his wisdom is infinitely impressive. He will scale down his opponent and attack when the time is right, and hard. His magic and defense skills will prove to be to much for the pathetic Super Mario pussy.

I would put all my marbles on Jinx. For one, he is the second hardest boss of the game (bested only by Time Devourer who seems to come from a Final Fantasy game [and who actually has Final Fantasy music]).

Jinx has Valor Up for defense, and it rasises defense a lot. It reduces damage by like... 80% I believe. He has resistance to every elemental attack (barring water, because there is no water attack in Mario RPG). He has resistance to Fear, Poison, Sleep, and Silence.

Also, Silver Bullet is a one-hit kill attack unless the character presses the A button exactly when it hits. Since Auron is on PS2, there is no A button, so he cannot withstand the one-hit-killing power of Silver Bullet. The only way Auron can withstand its power is with Auto-Life, and he'll have to re-cast it every time he revives to keep up with Jinx.

He simply can't do that, however because, by statistical translation of attributes of characters, Jinx is much, much faster than Auron.

There would barely be a battle.

I'll just agree with bob, this is exactly what I was thinking when I noticed the title, and I really don't feel like repeating it.

Well Medieval Bob pretty much just said everything that needed to be said: Jinx is a great deal faster than Auron and would have him confused out of his mind. Jinx would probably just zip around Auron to toy with him and then when Auron was dizzy or confused, knock him into next year... Jinx would certainly win.

And for those who don't know the characters, Titus noted that I should post the pictures from my picture thread so... here you are:

Auron

VS.

Master Jinx

Sure, Master Jinx may be a badass in the Super Mario RPG, but if even Mario can beat him, yet Mario got owned hardcore from Mega Man X, I highly doubt that speed and over-proclaimed power everyone regards him with will be able to confuse and dizzy Auron.

Auron is a highly trained and revered fighter and martial artist that would basically laugh at the puny speedy attributes of this pansy looking block figure. Auron would not be hit so easily people, and when the time is right, the counter attack would be a devistating blow, to say the least.

Edited by Titus
And how the hell is the "A" button arguement even a feasible one at that. That is just a plain old stupid comment that holds no barring to this Battle, no offense Bob.

That comment should be thrown out. Other than that, the only defense for Jinx is speed and Defensive Abilities, which really have no bearing on the final blows that would need to be inflicted for a win. Also, keeping in mind those "Defensive Barriers" that would ensure Jinx's victory, Auron's massive blades bear the Piercing ability, so it doesn't matter whether or not the Defense is raised or not, because it has no effect on Auron's attacks, especially when he decides to attack with his Overdrive, Tornado! Watch out Jinxy-poo!

Auron, no doubt.

Battle:

Auron: Uses slow on Jinx. Then casts haste upon himself. Has Evade & Counter. He strikes. Eventually Overdrive gauge grows. Bam!!! Tornado!!

GAME OVER!

This is just too easy of a choice...Auron would destroy...If Jinx uses Valor UP, Auron nails his ass with an Armor Break..oops, there goes the defence..Yea Jinx may have some Speed, but Auron can use haste/slow, as before mentioned, or can even Threaten Jinx, which makes him lose a round,a nd don't tell me u can't Threaten a boss...it works on Yunalesca, and she can be one bitch of a boss...And don't forget...Auron is dead, has a shitload of HP, and depending how u used him, he could have spells like Protect or even Ultima..and they just make him more painful...Yea Auron royally kicks Jinx's ass

If you're going to disregard the A button statement, then Auron has no resistance whatsoever to Silver Bullet. It would be just like the aformentioned Yunalesca's Mega-Death with instant kill to everyone, except it wouldn't be preventable by zombie.

Auron would die the first round.

Nearly all playable characters from Final Fantasies can equip armor to defeat any foe. I've stated what Auron would use. Besides, he could equip Deathproof. Jinx is dead!!! Oh.....sorry bob.

We're not going to take special armor into account here, Kuja. Character specific items are fine, so unless that Deathproof armor is only equippable by Auron, it isn't allowed.

Yea..even without Deathproof, Jinx is still gunna take it in the pooper(not literally)...Auron's Gunna bring the Pain..thats all that matters. There are so many different abilities he can have, like Dark Attack/Buster, so Jinx wouldnt be able to see Auron to hit him with "The Silver Bullet"...Plus the only way to truly kill Auron, is to send him..only a Summoner can do that...so Auron will never go down

Well, I was going to save this for Kain vs. Raziel, but apparently it needs to be incorporated here as well.

"Immortal" characters, or characters that can't technically die lose the match as soon as they are no longer capable of continuing. Auron is most certainly able to be knocked unconscious (as is evidenced by the fact that he can lose all of his HP in a battle) and so, in that instance he loses the battle. Simply casting a Sleep spell does not count. A combatant loses once his HP have been drained.

Silver Bullet is not a Death spell. It is not casting death. There is no reaper. It is simply a one-hit kill. If you want a comparison, you may think of it as Yojimbo's head-chop-off move that instant kills anything even with death-proof.

It's not really even a spell, just a move. Think about getting hit so hard you die. That's what it is, no magic involved really.

Well considering how long this has been open, it needs to end. I don't agree with the outcome at all, but it's two against one here, and I'm not gonna start throwing vetos around. I'd like to thank you all for participating so vigorously, and hope that you continue to contribute in the future!

So, without further ado, everyone please make your way to the Bracket Thread for the winner announcement!
