Following the recent departures at Blizzard North, Blizzard has announced that lead programmer Rick Seis has accepted the role of development team lead for Blizzard North. In his new position, Seis will focus on leading Blizzard North's concentrated team of developers while assuming the day-to-day responsibilities.
The announcement from Blizzard also states that Blizzard North will be 'streamlining their teams into one core group in order to focus their development efforts on one key project' and also states that 'further information regarding the specifics of their next project will be announced at a future date'. Mike Morhaime, Blizzard Entertainment president and co-founder commented:
"Rick was the natural choice to take over the reins as development team lead for Blizzard North. He has been a driving force from day one, and because of his history with us and his experience as a lead programmer on the Diablo series, we feel he's the right person to build on the successes of Blizzard North and to help shape the team's future direction."
Rick Seis has been with Blizzard since 1994 and was one of the first employees. He has served as the senior programmer on Diablo, lead programmer on Diablo II, and was the company's director of technology. As development team lead of Blizzard North, Seis will now report directly to Blizzard's Mike Morhaime.
