New forum categories?
Reply
Posted 2003-03-03, 12:08 PM
Well, if you can think of ideas for new forum categories for Zelaron, please reply to this thread. Some current current suggestions by various people are:

Poetry Corner
Roleplaying
Movies
Philosophy
Science
Sex
CG (We have this already, but I guess the person who suggested this means it should be divided into more, smaller groups.)
Impressionism

Not very gamer-related, mind you. Well, that's just what I've been hearing so far. Feel free to add an idea or two to the list, and complain about the current categories if you can think about a better replacement for them.

I guess so, some people might just be craving for more sub-categories.

Movies are basically the only thing in General Media right now.

A forum on sex? Great, bring some more 10 year olds in here.

Besides the fact that if we need a forum with a topic of sex, we have problems, don't you think people would be a bit upset that we have a forum to talk about sex but you can't post porn?

Make a sex forum, and make it for senior members only, and make classy nudity allowed.

It would violate our host's terms of service just as much if it were a private forum as it would if it were public. Besides that, the day that porn is allowed on this board again is the day I leave. If you want to talk about sex, that's one thing--I don't like it, but I won't stop you or give you trouble about it--but to post dirty pictures is quite another.

I think for this forum to continue to thrive it needs some new content. Especially with D2 going down hill like it is, soon no one will play it anymore, which means less and less google hits. So something needs to be done to keep things interesting, and people wanting to come here. I think a sex/love forum is not a very good idea, BUT if you guys decide to make one, it should be tightly moderated. Otherwise it will all turn into a big joke. I truly think there are plenty of other places to find sex on the internet though.

What we need to ask ourselves is, what would WE be interested in reading, and make it worthwhile to keep coming to zelaron.

It's not something that needs to be talked about in public.
It leads to impure thoughts which, if allowed to take root and grow, lead to impure actions. I know most of you don't care about this, and I recognise that forcing my beliefs upon you is not part of my job as an administrator.

Instead of "Sex", which could bring trouble, how about a "Personal Forum"?

So what about other categories? Personally, I think a forum with a title such as "Relationships" or "Love" would be a lot better than "Sex", as it can attract the wrong kinds of people.

Some project-based forums could be made, kind of like the hosted forums, but there to let people post about their own public projects for everyone to help. Maybe someone wants to make a 3D city, or a mini game for instance, then he or she might want some help on it.

Well, a Sex Forum would be a terrible idea. Firstly, with about 80% or more of the members here being admitted virgins, I don't know how much contributory discussion could be made. The age range, not to mention the maturity range of most of the members at times, even me for that matter, would make a mockery of that forum.

I agree with Adrena too, that personal issues should be kept off the internet. Maybe we should make a "What Would You Do" type of Forum.

That way, we could propose hypothetical situations, as well as flat out outlandish situations people could be in to get advice with. It could be serious, as well as just fun and funny to read too!

Just an idea though to make something a little more creative. This could even incorporate James idea of Creative Writing without secluding it to just that. Creativity, humor, and real situations (although only the poster would really know) would all be involved.

Or maybe a "Court Forum" where the moderators are the judges and decide the outcome over disputes either occurring in someones real life or in a case they heard in the news, on the radio, or just made up! Lets make it something that can be fun and messed around with, but not something that will get out of hand either.
