Photoshop for the final touches, and LightWave for the 3d effects in my case.

I use photoshop for everything, but I had to use PhotoImpact to convert it to .jpg format which screws up the whole image ( stupid comprassion)

It's tough... I know. We all start somewhere.

First of all, I would suggest you experiment with, and/or follow some of the Photoshop tuts in the link below (not ALL of them are for Photoshop).
http://www.zelaron.com/forums/showth...&threadid=6053

DeviantART also has some user-submitted tutorials for various 2D/3D programs.

Just try snooping around the program and see what you find, too. I know the Lens Flare (filter) is cool looking for graphics begginers, but it's really not that impressive for a beginner. You CAN use it, but not very many people like it (that is, if you ever wanted it rated/comment on). Experimentaion is the key to progressing in the graphics world. Sooner or later, those tuts aren't going to be very useful. Your creativy edge is what counts.

Once you get better at Photoshop, try finding/downloading a 3D program, such as 3D Studio Max (kind of hard), Cinema 4D (somewhat easy), Maya (very hard), Lightwave (hard), or Bryce (easy). You can find any of them off Kazaa/KazaaLite. I suggest that you get better at Photoshop BEFORE you take a shot at 3D programs, because most of the time, you'll be using Photoshop for the touch-ups (i.e. text, lineart, airbrushing, etc.).

I would assume you mean "pixel"...
A good size for a sig is 420x65 pixels. The max size the forums will allow is 500x400 or so.

Well first you host it, www.iownjoo.com is a good place to do it. Then you take the url, and put it in your sig space. then insert [img] tags around it. So in the end, this should be in your sig space.. [img.]www.iownjoo.com/imghost/XXXXXXXX.XXX [/img.] (dont put in the periods in the [img] and the tags)
