I thought I seen something to let you do this, but I'm not sure. Is there a way to make it so if a character is on the opposite side of the monster, the graphics won't flip? I am trying to set up like a Lufia style battle system using the default battle system, but the characters to the left of the monster flip. I would just flip all the graphics, but the initial standing graphics will be facing the direction I don't want. I just want to know if there was maybe some way just to turn off the flipping of the graphics. I thought there was.

I have NEVER played that game. I have no idea what effect you're going for, there may be a way to mimic it without doing what you're asking for directly.
As to turning off sprite mirroring - I can't see a way to do that. Even with battle animations, the animation STILL flips.

Just looked at some screenshots.. are you asking for a battle system where you're you're at the bottom of the screen, and the monsters are at the top? If not, explain what effect you want..
I've played Lufia I and II and i think i know wut yur talking about... i have an idea and i think it'll work... its worth a shot.... ok go to the System 2 Tab... and near the middle there should be thing that saying
"( ) Reverse Battle Animations when attack from behind"
Im pretty positive that if u check that it'll work... Good luck
The "Reverse Battle Animations" only affects.. animations. It doesn't affect the character sprites (a.k.a. Battle Charsets).
To test this, use the "High Tide" default skill. Normally, the water effect goes from upper-right to lower-left. When in a "Back Attack" situation, the water goes the same way, unless the "( ) Reverse Battle Animations when Attacked from Behind" checkbox is selected - in that case, it goes from upper-left to lower-right.
