It's a new movie, from the commercials it looks like a movie made by the same people who made 300. It doesn't come out 'til sometime next week I think.
What are your thoughts?

Yup. He says the world started in 4004 BC. He pinned down the exact date for me. Some time in October, I think. I don't remember exactly.

Religious Nuts need to realize that the world was created over 100,000 years ago at least. Scientists think it is like 34-million years ago or something like that. Humans came about only about 10,000-years ago, I think that is why the movie is called 10,000 B.C.

4.6 billion years ago is the currently accepted age of the Earth. The Human lineage started around 5 million years ago. The earliest known fossils of humans (Homo Sapiens) are found in Ethiopia, dating back to around 200,000 years.

Whew, I was off a bit. I do remember reading that in my science book last semester but not the part about there being humans 200,000-years ago. I thought it was 10,000 and that is what I thought the movie was about, the earliest humans.

I believe 10,000 BC is when humans first started transitioning from hunger-gatherer societies into more agricultural societies.

Oh, now that makes sense.

It's a movie about the benefits of organic foods.

The human mind made huge leaps and bounds between 10,000 B.C. and 1900 A.D... but once food became fake, humans started getting dumber!

So evolving to the point where a society can exist makes humans 'dumber'? I don't understand.

I remember playing Chrono trigger, and one of the timelines was 12,000 bc and there was an uber-advanced civilization that was around before I guess the ice age hit?

What's really fun is realizing that there's a huge amount of the universe that's completely invisible to us. Light has only been in transit for those 13.6 billion years, so multiply the speed of light by 13.6 billion years and you get the maximum viewable distance of the universe. There is potentially far far more lurking in the shadows, so to speak.
