Router

Never owned one, my IT guy at work says its an essential layer of security. Can anyone recomend one? An affordable one for home use.

I wouldn't exactly say it's essential. However, the security-conscious might have use for one. A router can be considered a hardware firewall. Usually they are used to make your IP unrecognizable to would-be hackers.

Well, normally, your ISP should be able to provide you with one, and they usually don't like when you get one on your own...

I use a Lynksis wireless G router I've never had security issues.

i have a firewall, its a netgear one, im not sure if the firewall works or not but its useful because we can have a lot of computers hooked up to the internet at once
