Explosion Contest

Explosions have already astonished astonished us all at times in movie scenes, but what does it really take to create a simulated explosion? If you think you could create the best-looking explosion out of the competers, feel free to give it a try.

Simply upload your rendered version in a common format, such as .avi, .mpg or .mov. Keep in mind that if you want to watch the scenes, you might need to have the latest version of DivX installed.

If you would like to be a part of the jury, send me a PM with an explanation of why you think you're more capable of rating special effects than anyone else.

---

A hint: Creativity gives more points towards the final score than any other category, such as realism and extra material. Remember, it's really the explosion that matters, not where it takes place.

Good luck to you all!

NOTE: THE DEADLINE FOR SUBMITTING SCENES WAS DECEMBER 23. CHRUSER IS THE WINNER OF THE CONTEST!
Winning the competition would be a nice christmas present, don't you think?

Here's my entry (DivX required):
http://hem.passagen.se/chruser99/Featherburst.zip
(Copy & paste the link)

If you currently have no inspiration, it could be a good idea to watch that.

(Note: If you haven't realized it already, it's a scene that shows Sol running out of raw materials causing it to expand slightly before it shrinks together again and explodes in a supernova. The hot flames slowly cool off as they go further out into the deep, dark space)

Seems like I won. I delayed the competition a bit, hoping that anyone else would submit their work, but I guess not.
