Revolution in Iran

Protesting begins in Iran

Much like in Egypt, the citizens are tired of the dictatorships that control the population of their people.

Power to the people!

Anti-government demonstrations swell in Iran; clashes reported

Protesters diverted to side-streets were beaten and gased, wtinesses said
At least 15 people were detained

BORKED

News travels too fast. This is the perfect example of how the vast expansion and speed of traveling information benefits mankind. Just imagine if all dictatorships could end due to simple things like youtube, twitter, facebook. Everyone has a voice, and everyone can now be heard.

BORKED

It has begun. You can do it Iranian people.

If nothing else, this is a great example of how perception is everything. The only reason our government is as it is is because most people feel apathetic or feel like they are unable to do anything to change it. The same is true of Iran, except now they are seeing countries in similar situations where people are uprising against the corrupt dictatorships. Nothing in Iran has changed other than the peoples perceptions of their power.

Also, there's no doubt in my mind that the internet will continue to be a tool of revolution. Wikileaks/4chan/etc have shown the power of the internet pretty well IMO. But be prepared to start seeing backlash from the people in power attempting to stop it. The powers of the world are not blind, I'm certain they know about this already, and I'm also certain that they are terrified by it.

They are absolutely terrified of it. Egypt tried to bring everything down, and there were instantly tons of way around it. Even companies like Google assisted in helping with phonebanks, and they set up number to call and record a message that would be put out as a Tweet on the RevolutionEgypt page. I love it, but you're right perception is everything. But really, does Iran have a good of a chance? They've had plenty of protests before, and the military alway wins. They're going to need an all out effort to get something accomplished this time around.

Amen.
I'm glad these people see that they can at least try and do something.
We could learn a thing or two from them.

That's why I say we fight Iran's government. No matter how bad war sounds, we can still help the innocent who can't defend themselves.

We've pretty much been setting up to take on Iran over the past 20 years. We have pretty much got them surrounded. I doubt it will happen, but we are definitely ready to do it if necessary.

Taking on Iran will be nothing like Iraq, though. War with Iran is serious fucking war.

I guess I'll sign up for the military, then. If I can help the innocent, protect The American soldiers, and get a "free" job, then good. It's also a nice chance to try channeling spirits, since I personally can't stand violence.

I don't think we'll have to. I'm hoping a revolution can take charge. Look at what's happened lately. Supression.

Iranian lawmakers condemn protests; call for execution of leaders

http://www.cnn.com/2011/WORLD/meast/...ex.html?hpt=T2

tl;dr
Lawmakers call for the execution of opposition leaders Mehdi Karrubi and Mir Hossein Moussavi
A European Union official urged Iran to "fully respect" the rights of its citizens
Protesters were largely cleared from the streets by Monday night

Quote:
The calls for the leaders' executions come after a particularly deadly month in Iran. At least 66 people were executed in January, according to Iranian media reports. Most of the executions were reportedly carried out for drug offenses, although at least three involved political prisoners, a U.N. statement said.

BORKED

The level of opression in Iran is far greater than that of in Egypt. The backlash could result in more casulties.

BORKED

I think the outspoken level isn't as high because of this face. I think they're still scared to speak out, they've got to be.

Rightfully so. Egypts military pledged to not attack protesters. They will get no such guarantee in Iran, I'm sure. Their government has no problem gassing/slaughtering them if necessary.

You know, I was going to post something about that but wasn't sure what it was all about. I seen an interview on RussiaToday on YouTube, well here let me find it:

BORKED

Damn bitches, keep our name out yo mouth. This isn't George Bush era were talking about. We have a competent president who is mindful of his surroundings.

I mean there's a video of their lawmakers calling for death to the ones leading the protests, and they're fucking chanting it. Are you kidding me? How does that make us responsible. I'd be pissed off and revolt too if our politicians did some crazy batshit insane stunt like that.
