Buy a new laptop. Or better yet, build one!

I do believe you told me your laptop gets extremely hot, and I do believe I told you to get a laptop cooler, and I do believe I told you it would increase the life span of your laptop, and I do believe you told me you've had no problems.

I do believe I win and I do believe I say I do believe too much.

There are so many factors at play that could fuck up the laptop ...I don't think you can declare any victory over such sparse evidence. Goto hell!

How old is it? I'd send it in for repairs, and/or buy a smaller one. I use my current laptop as a "home computer", but it's bulky and has poor battery time, so it's not very nice for travelling.

My old bulky dell laptop is still running after being almost continuously on from 2001-2005 and then on and off again when my main computer needs repairs or something. You could cook an egg on the bottom of the thing at any given time.

I'm using my old Dell Latitude D510. When it's been on for a day or so the ram cover is so hot it will burn you if you touch it for more than a few seconds.

Yeah, I knew I'd get flack from you. I think it's something related to the cooling fan, because it normally turns on when you turn on the laptop, but it doesn't. The power indicator turns on, though, so it's not a supply problem. If the cooling went out, there's a fair chance the processor is gone too, but replacing that is still going to be cheaper than a new laptop. Also, the whole part where my wireless service card won't work with a new Dell without sticking 3 inches out of the thing is a big deterant to buying a new laptop.

Why would he get a Dell, if the cost of repairing is somewhat cheaper than the cost of buying a new laptop?

Just build a small desktop and put it in a backpack.

Add a battery backup and you're golden for about 40 minutes!

I've got a Dell laptop I've had tons of trouble out of. Shitty optical drives/motherboards/wireless cards.
