Blah

So I'm hanging with a guy tonight. That's awesome and all, but my mom is very unhappy.

She had been asking me questions about the guy and I'd been honest about everything. Gave her his name, where he works, that he's gay, etc. She was fine up until that last part. Then the first words out of her mouth were "You promised, J-P." She misunderstood what I promised. I promised NOT to actively look for someone to date and that I'd try to avoid relationships, but I told her I can make no guarantees.

I reminded her what I actually said and agreed to and she got angry, saying I was twisting my words, etc. She told me that I have two choices: I can go to work and school or I can "continue to live your lifestyle." I told her that it's very much possible for me to have friends of varying backgrounds and still be able to go to school and work. She told me that she could not tolerate me "living your lifestyle" over and over. I kept explaining that it's possible for two gay guys to just be friends and not try to hook up. She didn't believe me and then she threw a fun tidbit at me.

"You were raised in this household to know what's right and wrong." I told her that I was raised to believe what she thought was right and wrong. Her rebuttal was "That's not true, you had church, you went to Catholic school." I told her that those were going to be biased sources and that I'm old enough to make my own decisions of what's right and wrong.

In the end she gave me her ultimatum of "Stay here and go to work and school or continue being gay."

What a way to really fuck up a potentially awesome and good day.
