Possibly, but because no one would know how to do 3-D modeling, all games would look alike, and everyone would use the same heroes/NPCs.. and you'd see the same monsters in every game.

Actually, it'd be just the same as it is now. I just wonder what horror of an editor GUI it has.

Looks good though.

PS2? That's just crazy, you don't have the flexibility of a PC on PS2. They ought to bring it out on PC first, but, programmers, do they ever learn???

DO they never.

But, maybe they could use the HDD to there advantage. You know, make it so someone could make graphics on the computer and upload them to an account they can create when you buy the game(like special code you have to enter to create the account). Than only you can access your work. THan on the PS2, just download it onto the HDD to a folder labeled RPG Maker or something. That way you can do a lot more with it, or the game even include a editor for graphics and music and still implement the HDD.

Me always thinking.

Hmmm, can't see them doing that for some reason.

An advantage though, we will probably be able to get legal english copies, even if it is for PS2.

I highly doubt it is going to come out for the PS2. It may say it on the site, but I have my bets placed on PS3. And if they don't bring it out on PC, then they could at least let the people with an XBOX have fun, right? Right now, if they brought it out, it should be on the XBOX because it is the most graphically powerful system. Plus, it has a larger built in HDD. That could be a GREAT advantage. Although, since the memory units can't hold that much, if you make an awesome game that is like 30 hours long, he'd/she'd have to come over to your house, unless you could compress the file for transport, and then load it into thier XBOX, like you would unzip a normal file, but they'd be able to play the game with out the RPG Maker game. That would be PIMP. But for some reason, game companies, don't think of this stuff. They should check out forums like this every month or so and check on any ideas. That would also be PIMP!

True, true.

Oh oh, question 8 has finally arrived. Wow. When is question 7 set to hit the e-press???

If you created your own graphics etc, then it should (theoretically) be possible to create 3D games in 2K3 and XP, right???

Takes much too long though.

They should've brought XP out with 3D graphics. OK, they look the job, slightly, but nothin can compare to 3D.

There are already some 3D engines out there. Not supposed to be that good but...someone should get one, try it out, and review it.

Sure, if you completely ignore the tile-based walking system, tile-based event system, and tile-based graphic system, you could have prerendered backgrounds of sorts, but the character wouldn't be able to react correctly to the environment. Unless, of course, you decide to make your own movement system, but that would be an insane amount of work.

If they went for 3D objects, the only way to introduce custom graphics would be to have a professional modeler do the work for you, unless you want a bunch of spheres and toruses for monsters. I can at least do bitmaps in MSPaint.

If you're going to make a 3D game, you may as well do the whole thing from scratch, or use Dark Basic to handle the 3D part.

I have tried 3-D RPG Builder and that thing is so lame. Maybe because I didn't take 3 hours to try to figure out how to attack, (actually I spent 2 days) but you have to get alot of different programs for it to work, and simply put, RPG Maker 2K/3/XP is BY FAR the best builder I have used that has stuff already pre-built for you. You just download it and your ready to start making games, with all kinds of pre-made graphics, so you can make small practice games (or tutorials (Bluecube)) and I doubt it would be worth it to download 6 or 7 programs to make a 3-D game with graphics that are at the low end of the Playstation scale(PSX). And, I personally believe 2-D games are better because you could have tons more data, and people can't blame your game for influencing their maniacal behavior.

P.S.> Anyone know where I can find a Playstation that can play SNES games. The first 200 systems were able to, then Sony decided to move to only discs, and I want to find one because my SNES is broken, and I have many cool games, but I don't want to take up extra space in my game cabinet with an extra system. Please send any information you have to me via email.

umm, the PS1 could never play SNES games, when the system was first planned out, discs was its game platform. cartridges were never in the picture.

If you go to various sites, they say that the sony playstation was able to play SNES cartridges, but sony changed the system to the Playstation X (PSX) which is why the X is in the acronym. I think it was also called the superdisc or something.
go to www.howstuffworks.com and in the search bar look up playstation. A list will come up with different topics, and one will say, How does the playstation work?, click that, then on one of the pages it says that it was made to play snes games.

It didn't say they were ever released. From the sounds of it, all 200 were scrapped and parts reused for the PS'X' that we know of today.

So, I highly doubt you could find any.
