My activity may drop in the next coming weeks
Reply
Posted 2009-01-19, 09:45 AM
I got laid off from my job on Wednesday and right now I don't know wtf I'm going to do. I worked there for 2 and a half years and I get cut.. just like that. My law firm hired a new C.O.O. and since he's been there for the couple months he has he's made the decision to lay off around 60 people, including me.

So, now I'm contemplating on filing for unemployment and then the job search begins. Top that on the computer classes I'm taking every week and you might not see me around here that much for the next few weeks. I've got some major decisions to make so I figured I'd update you guys and notify you of my sure absence.

Damn bro that's difficult to hear. I guess the struggling economy has made its way to your neck of the woods. Best of luck man, unemployment would be a good idea atleat for now while you are looking for a new place to work, possibly take that new microsoft certification you just earned and try getting a job with it possibly?

Wow, you know what... that sounds an awful lot like someone you (amongst others) gave a lot of shit to. Perhaps it's karma coming back to bite you in the ass? Good riddance. www.azui.com is where I file, (yours will probably have your state initials in front of ui) have your information ready and don't forget to file every Sunday or you won't get your money until late Wednesday.

Actually the difference between you and I is I won't be on unemployment for months on end. I don't know how you sit at home all day and do nothing. I can't do that I get bored too easily. Perhaps it is karma, but I know I will bounce back relatively soon and find a job. Hopefully in a completely different field, as well.

Well best of luck to you, unlike some children on these boards I can move on. If you can find a job that's awesome, unfortunately I am still on the waiting list for every restaurant in the general Peoria area, amongst other things. I'm just glad you got to somewhat feel whats its like to lose your job for some dumb ass reason that you had no control over, problem is you don't have a bunch of raging hormonal children nipping at your ankles considering you a complete waste of time and space because you lost your job :/. Whose next? I think d3v is due for a lay off.

I wouldn't fret too much Thanatos, shit will turn back around pretty fast. Any other fields you actually looking into possibly being a future-career type scenario?..

And as for you Kazilla, you shouldn't even be talking about anyone else losing their job when you still don't have a job, you lazy fuck.

Frictional and structural unemployment are just parts of the economy. Sounds like it's that moreso than cyclical unemployment, although I'm sure the recession doesn't help. Kazilla is falsely included in the unemployment number. He's just part of many thousands of bums milking the system. I hope you find something you enjoy even more than your last job, Thanatos.

You know, there are places that are always hiring (Customer Service centered, mainly) that can serve as a temporary job until you get a call back from one of the places you would rather work at.

This is truth. Anyone who claims they can't find a job is full of crap. They might not be able to find a job they like, or a job that pays as much as they want, but there are plenty of jobs out there, even if they're low paying shitty jobs. I see hiring signs all of the time around here.

If you can't find meaningful employment, go back to school full-time and invest in your future. That is if there's a degree that's actually worth having you're interested in.

The only good thing about this economy is that stocks are a bargain. If you can afford to invest, now is the time.

The housing market is prime right now as well to purchase some real estate.
