You know from my perspective these forums haven't changed all that much. There are a less members and fewer forums but in my opinion it seems people are just getting too familiar with the forum set-up.

Interesting you say that people are getting too familiar with the forum as the constant shifting of Chruser and WetWired's mad scientist experiments made the forum pretty interesting back in the day. It's definitely another thing I miss from the old forum as it seems to be pretty much exactly the same (on the surface) as it was over a year ago.

If by "on the surface" you mean the way the forums are set out etc, then you're wrongish. There's still many of the same forums, but Grav moved them all around and stuck them into the three main groups that you see. And Hosted, but nothing happened there.

The members have changed, and the entire tenor of the forum has changed as a result.

I personally visit maybe once a month, just due to the lack of subjects that interest me.

Having one basic "General Gaming" forum is nice at is stands right now, but it's hard for me to just tell myself, "Alright, I'm going to talk about this game and everyone is going to post in this thread because this game rocks."

Know what I mean? Now I'm not recommending segregating the forums into different sections just yet, but in the future if we find a certain topic/game that everyone enjoys it might be a good idea.

Right now, what do you consider this forum as a whole to be? A General Conversation forum? A video game forum (hasn't been that in a while IMO... besides from Diablo 2)? Or a forum to discuss your various 'trips' (kidding, but it used to be that way )

By on the surface I mean the general look and feel not the content itself. That would reside under the surface.

Wellll... is anything coming back from the old Zel?

I think the general consensus was:

a) Old Members
b) Portal/Homepage

Right?

I guess nothing is happening right now but it seems this discussion died in its infancy.

A portal would be nice but then we need people willing to write stuff for it. Just listing forum topics on a porta is pretty boring.

I'm sure you can get SOME things.

We were originally a gaming forum, so you'd need gaming articles, yes? Well:

- We've got Halo fanatics who'd probably write things.
- I'd be more than happy to rattle on about the PS3
- I'm sure at least someone would like to talk about the old consoles/Wii/360
- We've got WoW and GW players who'd write articles about the games and any new things about them
- Surely one person follows new game releases

And then why not have a general section for general news? We get enough random news articles that spark discussion, why not do something similar on a portal? We discuss it without n00bs in the safety of Opinions and Debate, and everyone else can discuss it in comments on the main page.

There's also enough crazyness floating about the forum for, say, User created things. How about a page for Mantra's stories? Which people can illu... read.

If you think about it, there's more than enough stuff. And a jazzy new member level picture title thing, like the old News Poster, might keep people at it for a week or so.

THEN we can list the main forums.

Heck, if we get desperate I'm sure a least one person has a regular blog/urge to blog.

We could even name and shame the No-lifers!
