I dunno, man.
In the old seasons of Family Guy, Peter or Louis trying to help Meg in her social life were often plot devices and often the family would express that they do love Meg.
In the new series, Meg is used for short "shut up, you suck, go die" style jokes.
Very inconsistent.

Speaking of Family Guy inconsistency.
In the old Family Guy, during the first season or so, religion was often used as a plot device, NOT a joke. In fact, does anyone remember the episode were people worshiped Peter? In the episode, Gods' 10 plagues hit Peters' home toward the end, to which Brian slaps Peter in the face yelling "GOD! IS! PISSED!"
Not only has the use of religion taken a server turn, but it's a bit odd that Brian would the one to yell about apologizing to God, whom he apparently never believed in.
As a matter of fact, the episode mentioned applies the fact that in the Family Guy universe, God is active and the same God of The Hebrew Bible.
