Sorry For the Second Post on this but..... i dont know where my other one went, rofl.. Anyways i keep getting error messages on my desktop that say: Run Time Error 5 at 00CF729C I have not found any way to get rid of it... and i cant re-install because i dont have an xp disk.. anyone got any advice?
What it is is a failed load on a program. hit Ctrl+Alt+Del and go to processes and close outta the shit you don't need.
You can also go to run and type in: msconfig then you will want to go to startup, then DISABLE ALL. Then Apply.

Of course, System Restore might help too. Just remember to make a restore point or two every now and then (monthly or so).

Disabling the startup items are not recommend, and it will not fix your problem. Sure it will stop the error from coming up when you start your computer, but if you ever try to open what ever program that is, it will show the error again. What I would do is this....
Click Start, then Run
Type MsConfig
Click on the "Selective Startup" dot and make sure that the following is selected....(For XP Home/Pro)
-Process SYSTEM.INI file
-Process WIN.INI File
-Load System Services
-Load Startup Items
-Use Original BOOT.INI
Then Click on the "Start Up" Tab on the top of the menu
Uncheck all Personal Programs that you see (things you have installed)
Press "APPLY", "OK", and "YES" to restart your computer.
Yeah, the programs that you can tell are yours are Under: User NAME, It'll say either, all, or your user name that you are on. Just don't disable windows stuff, or you should actually get ADWARE, that will most likely fix the problem.

Reason why i wont disable all startup items is beacuse if i have a problem with something and i cant fix it. I can go and do a system restore, and bring the computer back a day or too. I've notice without these items checked at the startup it doesn't recall your most recent dates.
In your case a system restore would probably be the best thing to do, I usually take mine back about 3 weeks. Or to a known good date when nothing was wrong with it.

Well what I do is just add all of my programs right after I format the HD. Saves time. Sometimes I'll lose some pictures, or an update for something, but its not too bad, USUALLY fixes the problem I'm having.
