Post Team Fortress 2?
Reply
Posted 2007-11-26, 11:09 AM
Anyone on here play Team Fortress (or used to) or even Play Team Fortress 2? I've contemplated TF2 for a while, and finally got around to purchasing it last night through my steam account and actually got a few minutes this morning to play it on my laptop. I was somewhat impressed because it's in the lovely 'Source' theme and engine, and seemes to be a bit more balanced out.

Haven't ACTUALLY gotten a chance to play it yet, but if it's anything near as fun as regular 'ole Team Fortress was back in the day, this could become very addicting. My laptop seems to respond just fine to the game as of yet (I can play Battlefield 2142 without ANY issues) so we'll see.

Let me know, maybe we could setup a match or something, i've got some "real life" buddies of mine that actually have a personal ventrilo server that they've been running for a long ass time now, so maybe we could get a game going or something, i've got CZ as well, no source

Ever play Day of Defeat?

I'll give TF2 a try once I get my laptop fixed. It's in the process now. Can't fucking wait...

I used to play DoD all the time, they've got a source version out now apparently, my girlfriends little brother is hooked to it, maybe I can borrow his steam account and play or something.

DoD = my long lost love. Getting drunk and playing that game with other drunk people is fucking classic. Don't think I've ever talked so much shit before. Never did play the Source version, though. My laptop couldn't handle it.

I'm pretty sure the regular version of DoD is free..

It was a free HL mod. It was always fun to shovel someone to death.

Was the shovel your default melee weapon, or did it have some other purpose?

No, it's basically like a knife, but DoD took place back in the good'ole WW2 days apparently, and I 'spose they had shovels for trenches back then, and that was your default meele weapon.

Nah, it was just your default melee weapon. I think the Allies start off with knives, though.

Alright let's see...

No screen-shots as of yet, but there is a new feature (to me) that when you die the game like to taunt you and asks if you'd like to take a screen shot which is somewhat funny in my opinion (thinking I want to keep memory of getting owned). Anyways, the gameplay is JUST AS ADDICTING as the previous Team Fortress 2, except the graphics are much nicer, and the gameplay seems to be much more balanced than it was before.

The offensive side of the game is awesome in every aspect, you've got the Scout (speed-hack basically, you run around and Rambo everything). And then you have the soldier that has these sticky grenade launcher, as well as a shotgun. And of COURSE the Pyro, probably my favorite player in the game, The flame-thrower is definately a powerful weapon and basically you can take out almost any player with it if you are skilled enough, as well as a shotgun you can keep handy for longer-range (funny as that sounds) shootouts.

The "Support" team is still the same from what I can tell.

I'll have more as I get to play the game more. They've updated alot of things on steam since the last time I was on there, much smoother game-play. I definately recommend it.

Really? Damn we gotta 1 on 1 scrim or something, some time. I'm getting better on my laptop, a few of my RL buddies still get into it with vent and everything. Hmm
