CES '08 - Sony - Sony Rolly

What a strange little thing this is!!

Basically, it's a robotic MP3 player. Yep.

At their keynote speech yesterday Sony announced that the Rolly would be coming to the Western markets within the first half of the year, with updated specs - namely bluetooth and 20gb of flash memory.

The device itself is Rugby-ball shaped, has built-in speakers, and wings.

I think it will cost about $300-$400.

And here's a video of it in action:

Here's the official Sony TV ad:

Of course it isn't! It's a Japanese robot toy. The main purpose of most things Japanese is to show that it can be done. Once things have been done, they're sold as toys.

You have to admit it, wouldn't you love one (or maybe a few) just to show off at parties?

"Hey guys, shall I put some music on?"
Yeah, sure!
"Great, oh, and watch my music player dance to it! Neat, huh?"

I'd use it if I was given one as a gift.
