I'm sure there's a technical term for that. When you use the same phrase with a lsight difference again to answer something completely different...then again I may be thinking of the thing when one character says something, there's a break in the text and a different character carries onthe sentence:

Bernie Turned and looked at Clarissa. Shifting his weight in his seat he leaned over to her, his tale breath cascading out of his slightly open mouth like dry ice, whistling through the gaps between the slowly rotting teeth. "When I were a lad, we 'ad proper evenings. None of this modern TV with nufink to watch rubbish. If I'd a told our mam that I were bored she'd 'ave..."


"...killed me! Honest! That's the last time I ever face up to a monster like Jenny Greenteeth again! Stupid name for a monster anyway," Lheni huffed.
"I thought as you like the name Jenny."
"Aye, I do...it's the Greenteeth bit that I'm on about you wazzock!"
