Jesus Fuckin Christ. I thought everyone on the face of the Earth had went through this. I guess not. Lenny here seems stuck in the stoneage. I'm sorry man but I gotta fill you in here. Let me try to put it into terms you'll like. Computers used to use vacuum tubes. Vacuum tubes were too large, and ultimately you couldn't get very much speed as compared with modern PCs. So what happened, they came out with transisters. When transistors outlived their time, what happened? They came out with integrated circuits.

So let's break it down like this:
Console Era I: NES
Console Era II: SNES SEGA
Console Era III: N64 Playstation
Console Era IV: DreamCast GameCube Playstation Xbox
Console Era V: Xbox 360 Playstation 3
Someone fill me in on the new Nintendo Console, I don't care to look it up

ANYHOW. The idea you are proposing, which you seem to think is the coolest thing on the face of the planet, is an early Era IV idea. Xbox called it "system link." I guess you wouldn't remember because you're a fanboy or Sony. With the "developement" of "xbox live" otherwise known as "console internet gaming" that idea was sacked out the window. Do you realize the time it takes to set all that stuff up? Not only that, but do you really think you are going to get 20 people playing the same game that long and get them to come together? Well let me tell you the answer: No. That's just retarded. Playstation's big brag was it's number of games, too, so unlike xbox(which it's already hard to find people who play the same games as you religiously), it's going to be practically impossible. Plus once you've had 7 people on one console, it's no longer going to be fun, it's going to have bumped downed graphics or a shitty framerate, pick your favorite one. Having multiple consoles, each with its own processor, and each conveniently located in your home, is a much easier way to accomplish multiplayer.

If you ever think about it as someone already pointed out, Playstation has never been the forefront of the multiplayer experience. Playstation 1 only had 2 controller ports, and don't even say they have an adapter for 5 because only 2.3% of the games supported 5 players and those games remain nameless. To top it off, only about 10% of the games supported 2 players, putting it right under the NES, an Era I generation console. Then along came Playstation 2 in all it's multiplayer glory. I don't even want to get into that. Let's just say I'm proud of them for finally capitalizing online capabilities halfway through the Era. Ya if I want to sit down, jackoff, and eat Tostitos, I'll do it with a Playstation... or a porno movie, but if I want good awesome multiplayer fun I'll go with N64 / DreamCast(ya it's better, what?) / Xbox, or GameCube.

Sorry for ragging the Playstation so much, it's just you had it so inflated I had to pop the hollow balloon. I would get one of if it was a decent console. Right now I'll stick with Xbox games, computers games, or GameCube games, in that order.
