I was wondering if someone could help me learn the basics of Photoshop. I really would like to be able to have some real fun with it
It depends solely on your definition of fun. If you want to use it to produce random pictures without much effort, go help yourself with the filter selections. Nothing you produce that way is very likely to be liked by others, but a few filters can actually come in handy every now and then if used properly.

If you want to use it to learn how to draw or something, then you shouldn't be using photoshop, but a pencil and some copymachine paper or something to practice with. I can hook you up with practice material if that's the case.

Otherwise, just search the web. A simple Google search for "Photoshop Tutorials" should give you thousands upon thousands of hits. Or as the main character of Far Cry would have said; "It's a jungle out there!"
