So... you wanna mod halflife games? ... well theres some shit you outta know and to DL. first of all, you need the halflife software development kit, which can be found here http://www.fileplanet.com/files/40000/44991.shtml
... you most likely cant do this on your own, so i soppose get a team of people to mod with you. .... now you need some programs. the main program you need is C++, visual C++, i mean, microsoft visual c++
http://shopping.yahoo.com/p_microsof...ols_1990345255 ... fuck no... you need p2p file sharing programs.... gnucleus, or kazaa, www.kazaa.com ...
now... on to graphics. i learned about this program the other day, took a tutorial on it, free 30 day tutorial = good, i guess.
http://www.swissquake.ch/chumbalum-soft/ ... eh... i was looking at the models for it, (i havent done any models), and it shows to open it with 3d studio max... well, none of my 3d studio max programs work, (from kazaa, nor gnucleus) .... DONT DO WAREZ
anyway, ive been modelling with lightwave, which is a kickass program, not THAT complicated. if you get a modelling program look on zelaron forums, and under computer graphics and go to the stickyd threads at top and there will be Tutorial list ~~. next, for texturizing, theres photoshop. ...now, 700 dollars. nah, i got mine on kazaa for free. Wally as well, http://www.telefragged.com/wally/ ...so, i soppose you need a sound recorder, (i havent used one at all), but i got this program awile ago that was nice, dont remember name. so i soppose use the windows sound recorder,
this OK one i found a couple weeks ago has a trial, called wave creator 3.. havent used much. now, tutorials and books. i got 4-5 c++ books and 1 c book 1 photoshop book, and 1 lightwave book. they help. i heard C++ primer is a awesome c++ book, chruser told me theres a 1200 page book called
Inside lightwave 7
so tutorials... hmm...
http://www.cs.wustl.edu/~schmidt/C++/
http://www.cprogramming.com/tutorial.html
http://www.programmingtutorials.com/
now, making BSP maps...
http://www.valve-erc.com/resources/?page=wc33_info
hammer is exact same thing
as i might have said, look over the halflife engine source... understanding what your doing will help ALOT.
........ well thats about it, just get your team situated, make a breif layout of what your game will be like, and get started.
