What is out there?

Personally I have never been out to Iraq, dunno about you guys... but what is really out there? How do we not know our government isnt controling what we see? People from North Korea are showed lies, and I bet they beleive it. I mean, we have so much trust into our gov(not all, but most) that it makes us blind and easy to be misguided. I honestly won't beleive any of the shit unless I see it, touch it, and hear it for my self.
