I need help with a proxy or something

The new internet that the apartment complex provides has the fucking port for EQ2 updates blocked...

I *think* it's port 7000, but that's just a guess because this link won't work for me: http://patch.station.sony.com:7000/p..._LaunchPad.exe

If anyone knows for sure what port it uses or how to access it with a proxy or whatever-the-fuck else I can use (because I don't know a damn thing about proxies), please enlighten me.

Seriously though, will a SOCKS proxy allow me to play Everquest? If so, tell me what to DL, and how to install it if it's not apparent.

I tried to use proxies at school but didnt work.

what i did was:

Lookup proxy list on internet

Insert proxy into the internet option > conenction > LAN settings > puse proxy tab

but it wouldnt work...wtf?

I really can't remember, I used to use one to play the Taiwan beta of Lineage II

It's been years since I've dinked around with proxies, but I believe a SOCKS proxy is directly insertable into the copy of the game. Check under options, connections, etc... It should have some kind of option for it...
If you dont want to look around for a free proxy that will indefinately end up dying after a short while, I believe you can purchase one?
