I found that x79 lags a little. I don't like it being so dark though, so I like subsilver...only thing I dislike is that I have to click on "Off-Topic" to see the subforums in there, unlike Synthesis.

I like X79's color scheme, but I do think it would look cool in other colors... maybe WW and Chruser can make alternate color schemes for certain templates. It's probably too much of a pain in the ass, though.
We won't even think about doing new colors untill vB3. At that point, we will be making a few changes to accomidate new features and we may make it in different colors. I don't think that the transparency and BG image will stick arround, however, it would just be Synthesis in different colors.
Synthesis will very likely stay for vB3, but I've been working on a fresh forum theme as well. The postbit (posting area) is pretty much done, but any very innovative ideas for the forumhome itself would be nice. Of course, making the actual browsing fast and easy is a priority that comes before actual looks.
Even if I'd get the crazy idea to, say, hire 2advanced to create a forum theme which shows a 20 second flashy movie sequence when you want to open a thread, it'd hardly effective for a number of reasons.
