ie MS Paint. Start > Programs (or All Programs) > Accessories > Paint.

Right click anywhere in the white screen on there and click Paste, click File, Save As..., select your directory (ie desktop, just click the drop-down box), choose your filename (whatever you want the picture to be named), then select JPEG Format (.JPG) from the drop-down box on the bottom... "File Type".

ok i havent been on in a while but thanks for the info i thoght that it saved screen shots to a certain directory like in a windows folder somewhere.

as for the cool prank just close all programs and put the mouse pointer off of the screen somewhere and take a screen shot. after you save the picture to a file in paint or what ever just put it as your background and move all of the icons to a folder some where so that when a person clicks on the "icons" in the background nothing happens. and they usually think that the computer isnt working right if they are really dumb and dont know how to get into files throught the start menu you can really mess with their head.

Temper... Windows should save to a directory though, I would save tons of time. I hope they add it or something like it in Longhorn...
