Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows *WARNING! UBER SPOILER ALERT*

So come on? What did people think? How long did it take you to read? Where there parts that really surprised you?

Before you answer I must ask one thing - if you say anything about the book, put it in spoiler tags. I don't care if you just say how many pages it is. PUT IT IN SPOILER TAGS. I will be editing the posts of those who don't.

---

Anyway, here's what I thought (copied and pasted from a post I've made on another forum):

Two words, the first sounds like "clucking", the second is "super-duper-uber-amazing-brilliant-great-fantastic"!

Took me just shy of 5 hours 31 minutes, and boy was every minute worth it.

And so the spoilers begin:

First of all, I WAS SO VERY NEARLY RIGHT!! I said that one of the twins would die, so, of course, I back the losing horse. 50/50 chance and I get it wrong! Typical!

The rumours of Harry being the seventh horcrux proved [in my mind] surprisingly correct, too. We finally learn the truth about Snape, which is nice. And big shocker, didn't see it coming - Snape had one hell of a crush on Lily. Poor thing. And we find out about Dumbledore's death.

One thing that really seemed to stand out in DH, was how detailed Rowling's world is. It may not show in the other books, but in book 7 it is really clear how much thought has gone into all the different aspects of a world in which Wizards and magical folk live, especially where goblins are concerned. It's just a shame that there wasn't more of it.

As for the ending, I liked it. I really did. For a series that has had people crazy for a decade, the climax was nothing short of wonderful. None of this poncy "and it was all a dream" rubbish, but rather a satisfactory ending.

All in all, well worth the read (though I doubt that anyone needs to be told that!)

Oh, and one more thing - some of the deaths really did surprise me. The first one especially. Who'd have thought that the first character to go wouldn't be a magic user?

Just finished reading the book last night at 1am. I had to work daily too, so I didn't have the time to just sit down and read for hours on end. But...I loved it so much!

First off, and I can't help but mention this first, Neville is fucking BADASS! I was surprised! I love the change he went through!

I always had a feeling that there was more to Snape. I was right when I guessed that Dumbledore had planned his death with him. I hadn't realized however, just how deep Snape really was behind the scenes of it all. To go through all of that for the child of the one person he ever loved, who never returned that love...heartbreaking.

I loved Kreature in this book. Cracked me up.

"Perhaps just one more, Master Harry, for luck?"

I admit, I loled. And the sidestory that went with it was great.

And with as much as the twins went through, like George losing his ear, I loved the fact that they never lost their sense of humor. I love the twins. Sigh. It was a shame Fred died. "Saintlike. You see...I'm holy. Holey, Fred, geddit?" Ha!

Also, I felt rather sorry for Draco in the book, and was rather glad that by the end there was a sort of...well...not quite friendship...but rather civilness between them all.

You know what guys... I think I might actually go borrow these books from the Libary etc, and try and catch up on it. I suppose if everyone is so interested in them there must be more behind the material that what is shown at the surface. Hmm, the possibilities... There are 7 books now right, and Deathly Hallows is the last one in the "series" .. ?

I have never cherished a seriese of writing more than Harry Potter. Never read a better book. This seriese has controlled my "reading lifestyle" for the past..ehh...7 or so years has it been? Probably less.... Somebody ask me what book is my favourite, i say harry potter.

How could I be in love with a fictional character(s)?

What the fuck man.

So weird. Yet I cant control it.

I can remember when there was a country wide competition for kids to enter to win the role of Harry, Ron and Hermione. Nearly entered myself!
