computer rebooting?

There is a new massive virus called sassor that attacks random computers who havent updated their maching with the most recent critical update.If your computer reboots over and over without you ever getting a chance 2 do anything heres what u do.When u start up your computer you should have at least 2 selections 2 choose from that are highlighted before you even get 2 your logon screen.Dont use the 1 you normally use go 2 the other 1 below it or above it depending on which 1 your using.now select that and logon and if all is ok go drectly 2 microsoft update then go 2 norton.com and get a virus scan.next download lavasoft's adware at lavasoft.de and do a sca nafter you've gotten the latest virus refrence file.if you find anythign quarntine it not delete you quartine that bitch immeidately.now after you've removed the problem try restarting your comp and now try your original and if its fixed then yea.If this didn't work try login on windows with safemode and hope 4 the best because e thats all i can say.Also another thing if it still persist try going ctrl-alt-delete check your processes delete any that are not reconizable such as lsas.exe which ithink is the name of the sasser worm.And finally if ur still stuck wipe your drive if ur on a network dont let it spread 2 anbody else in your work/home.

the shutdown of Lsass.exe is what causes your computer to crash.... thats not the sasser worm

Also, if it all of a sudden youir computer starts to shutdown cause of this, go to your run command and type shutdown -a . That will stop the shutdown.

....if unotice after the l is sass the prefix of sasser.But imay be wrong.

The sasser worm doesn't even harm your computer, it is just there.

How to Protect Yourself from the Sasser Worm and Other Attacks
If your computer is running one of the following operating systems, you can help protect it from the Sasser worm and its variants by installing the appropriate update:

For Windows 2000 Service Pack 2 or later, install "Security Update for Windows 2000 (KB835732)"
For Windows XP, install "Security Update for Windows XP (KB835732)"
When you click Scan for updates, Windows Update will determine if you need this security update; if so, the update will appear on the Critical Updates and Service Packs page.

To find out how to help protect your computer against the Sasser worm, or remove it if you think your computer may already be infected, click the Read more link. We also recommend that you check Windows Update regularly for new critical and security updates.

Microsoft teams have confirmed that the Sasser worm (W32.Sasser.A and its variants) is currently circulating on the Internet. Microsoft has verified that the worm exploits the Local Security Authority Subsystem Service (LSASS) issue that was addressed by the security update released on April 13 in conjunction with Microsoft Security Bulletin MS04-011.

To protect your computer against Sasser and its variants, do the following:

Step 1: Enable a Firewall
Before you take other steps, make sure you have a firewall activated to help protect your computer against infection. If you have a hardware firewall in place for your home or workplace connection, or if you use the firewall included with Windows XP, the Sasser worm is most likely blocked. If your computer has been infected, a firewall will help limit the effects of the worm on your computer. Step 2: Install the Required Update
To help protect your computer against the Sasser worm and its variants, you must first download and install security update 835732, which was released with Microsoft Security Bulletin MS04-011. You can find update 835732 on the Windows Update Web site listed in the Critical Updates and Service Packs section. You can also download and install this update manually from the Microsoft.com Download Center. To find the download for your operating system, refer to Technical Security Bulletin MS04-011.

Note If you installed the updates for MS04-011 manually or through Automatic Updates before Friday, April 30, then you are already protected against this issue.

Step 3: Automatically Check For and Remove Sasser
You can use this tool to search your hard disk for and try to remove Sasser.A, Sasser.B, Sasser.C, Sasser.D, Sasser.E, and Sasser.F. To do so, click Check My PC for Infection.

Important To use this tool, you must be running Windows XP or Windows 2000, and you must have already installed the update released with Microsoft Security Bulletin MS04-011.



Note After you click Check My PC for Infection, a Microsoft End-User License Agreement is displayed. In the window, click I Agree, and then click Continue. If you see a message advising you that the tool is loading, click OK to proceed.

Note If you have difficulty running the tool from this page, it may be due to your browser's security settings. If you have any problems, try downloading the tool directly from the Microsoft.com Download Center and then running it manually.



Step 4: Review Additional Technical Resources
