item socketing

Would like to know for sure.
If you find lets say a no socket ethreal berserker axe or collosus blade and consider making it a botd..

If you add sockets with the act 5 quest, do you get 6 sockets? and is there a palce with info on possible sockets on all types of items? thanks

Actually, from what I've noticed, the socket quest no longer gives maximum sockets. This hapened when I was trying to socket a Flail to make a HOTO (I forgot they could have 5 sockets... ). I ended up with a flail that had 3 sockets and 5 sockets.

There's a range of the number of possible sockets for the socket quest for different items.
